PINEWOOD - Round 1    

20/21 February

The season got off to a great start at Pinewood, thanks to all at Pinewood, particularly Nigel for his the excellent race control.

Production qualifying saw James Cleave take top spot  ahead of Lee Parsons.

Keith Gibson won the D final from Jorge Cruz and David Sargent. The C final produced a very close finish, Bob Budge had led most of the way, Paul Shepherd passed him for the lead in the closing minute only to run into somebody else’s accident and drop just behind Bob on the last lap.
Ross Grogan and Richy Kettleson put in very quick runs in the B final, while Richard Mack, Mike Read and Joe Morgans also topped Bob’s C final time.
In the A final James and Lee were fastest, and it looked like we were going to get a close race all the way till James made a pit stop.  That left Lee well clear of Mike Crofts in the A final while Gavin Wills and Graham Whitby were closely matched.  In the end Lee won by 12 laps from Ross Grogan’s B final time, Mike was third overall.

Open Group 12 and Eurosport were run on Sunday. James Cleave won both and took the championship lead.  Richy Kettleson scored a second and a third, the best main grade driver by far and 2nd overall in the championship so far.

Afraid there’s no photos of Sunday’s racing, the reporter was only there on Saturday.

Next Round is at Raceway 81 in April.
