Formula 1 qualifying was the fastest lap in 1 minute. Eight drivers got under the 6 second mark and so they made up the top final. Michael Ovens top qualified with an impressive 5.73 seconds. Michael was nearly 1/10th quicker than the next man, Steve Sargent 5.82 and the next 7 drivers covered by .09 sec. Paul Shepherd 5.83, Graham Woodward 5.83, Ross Grogan 5.86, Dave Coward 5.86, Martin Ellis 5.89 and Paul Harwood 5.91.
The B race started off in dramatic fashion. Kev Gray raced into an early lead until after less than a minute a pile up under the bridge brought his race to a premature end - magnet out, motor destroyed, end of story ! Neil Grogan then controlled the race and behind him Matthew Siddall and Franz were having a good tussle, never more than 2 or 3 laps apart. Neil comfortably won in the end posting a target of 211.38 for the A race to chase and Matthew (197.03) held on in front of Franz (193.77) by just over 3 laps to take 2nd with Franz 3rd. Stephen Siddall (188.18) was a further 5 laps back in 4th place.
The A race was controlled from start to finish by Ross Grogan who looked unbeatable, passing Dad, Neil's, total half way through the last segment. Dave Coward and top qualifier Michael Ovens had the best race, Dave (216.16) finishing just 17 feet ahead of Michael (215.99) for 2nd place, Dave was 12 laps behind Ross (228.70) at the finish. Neil's total of 211.38 from the B race was good enough to finish in 4th place overall, just under a lap ahead of Woody (210.63).
